Cards against Performance Testing

A short bit of fun blog post, over years of working with performance testers and teams I have noticed certain themes in how teams react when a performance problem is noticed.

The general reaction is to blame something else. I wonder whether this is because its typically late in lifecycle threatening delivery or that performance problems aren’t generally easy to fix so require a lot of effort.

For a laugh we the team tried to visualise this reluctance to investigate. Cards against performance testing where the idea is to pick at least two yellow post its before proceeding to do some investigation and a performance issue flow chart. I need to attribute some great performance testers in this Rex Gonsalvez, Sreeni Sreenivasen and Colin Hillier.
